Players are split on SPAZ 2. Some enjoy building their own modular mothership and carving out an empire in sandbox mode, but many find it a disappointing sequel that dumbed down what made the first game great. A recurring complaint is that the galaxy cheats: enemies rebuild starbases as soon as you leave and scale their power to match yours, making progression feel meaningless.
