Players adore the writing, characters, and atmosphere, calling it one of the best RPGs ever made despite being a buggy, unfinished mess on release. The Steam version is unplayable without the unofficial patch. The final third of the game falls apart, the sewer section is infamous, and combat has aged poorly, but the world and role-playing keep people coming back for thousands of hours.
