Players nostalgic for its 2007 DS original praise the atmosphere, but modern gamers find it monotonous and punishing. The PC port uses the 3DS remaster's quality-of-life changes like checkpoints after bosses, yet some note balance breaks in the second half and cramped combat where you cannot hold a flashlight and weapon at the same time.
