โชคสองชั้น เป็นภาพยนตร์ไทยเรื่องแรก ที่สร้างและผลิตโดยคนไทยทั้งหมด เป็นภาพยนตร์เงียบ ถ่ายทำด้วยฟิล์มขาว-ดำขนาด 35 มม. ผลิตโดย กรุงเทพ ภาพยนตร์ บริษัท ต่อมา คือ บริษัท ภาพยนตร์ศรีกรุง ของมานิต วสุวัต ร่วมกับคณะนักหนังสือพิมพ์สยามราษฎร์ และศรีกรุง ภาพยนตร์ โชคสองชั้น เข้าฉายครั้งแรกเมื่อ 30 กรกฎาคม พ.ศ. 2470 ที่โรงภาพยนตร์พัฒนากร มีจำนวนผู้ชมสูงสุด 4 คืน กับ 1 วัน เท่ากับ 12,130 คน ทำลายสถิติเมื่อสี่ปีก่อนหน้า ของภาพยนตร์เรื่อง นางสาวสุวรรณ ปัจจุบันฟิล์มภาพยนตร์เรื่องนี้ได้รับความเสียหายจากความเสื่อมสภาพ โดยหอสมุดแห่งชาติได้ค้นพบฟิล์มและพิมพ์สำเนาใหม่เอาไว้ได้เพียง 42 ฟุต คิดเป็นภาพนิ่งทั้งหมด 1,319 ภาพ รวมความยาวประมาณ 1 นาที ภาพยนตร์เรื่องนี้ได้รับการขึ้นทะเบียนมรดกภาพยนตร์ของชาติ ครั้งที่ 2 ในปี พ.ศ. 2555 เนื่องในวันอนุรักษ์ภาพยนตร์ไทยของหอภาพยนตร์ ขณะมีอายุเก่าแก่ที่สุด 85 ปี ในบรรดา 25 เรื่อง (from Wikipedia, CC BY-SA)
