This short documentary shows unmarried women from Vallepietra on a Pentecost pilgrimage to the sanctuary of the Trinity. They sing laments for Christ's tragedy, dressed in white except for one woman in black who represents the Madonna.

Il pianto delle zitelle è un cortometraggio documentario del 1939 diretto da Giacomo Pozzi-Bellini. Donne non sposate, o verginelle, di Vallepietra si recano nel giorno di Pentecoste in pellegrinaggio al santuario della Trinità con lamentazioni e canti del loro dolore per la tragedia del Cristo. È probabile che la processione risalga agli inizi del 1700, secondo il testo più antico pervenutoci, cui, passando i secoli, ha seguito sempre più un impianto di tipo teatrale.
