Elokuvassa Kivun ja ilon työ kaksi synnytyksen ammattilaista, kätilö Kirsi ja synnyttäjien tukihenkilönä toimiva doula Anna-Riitta työskentelevät paremman synnytyskokemuksen ja synnyttäjien itsemääräämisoikeuden puolesta. Elokuvan maailmanensi-ilta oli Kööpenhaminan CPH:DOX:ssa maaliskuussa 2024. Elokuvan tuottaja on Kirsi Mattila Icebreaker Productionsista.
