వాల్మీకి 1945లో విడుదలైన ఐదు తెలుగు చలనచిత్రాల్లో ఒకటి. వాల్మీకి చిత్రాన్ని మద్రాసులోని ప్రస్తుతపు వడపళని ఏరియాలో అప్పుడు అడవిగా వున్న ప్రదేశంలో చిత్రీకరించారు. భామా ఫిలిమ్స్ పతాకాన ఎల్లిస్ ఆర్ డంగన్, ఎం.ఎల్.టాండన్ దర్శకత్వంలో రూపొందించారు. వాల్మీకి జీవిత చరిత్రను, రామాయణంలోని ముఖ్య సన్నివేశాలు, సీతావనవాసం, లవకుశ జననం వంటి ఘట్టాలు చిత్రీకరించారీ చిత్రంలో. ఈ చిత్రం ద్వారా మాస్టర్ వేణు సంగీత దర్శకుడుగా పరిచయమయ్యాడు. మల్లాది విశ్వనాథ కవిరాజు, రచన అడవి బాపిరాజు కళాదర్శకత్వాన్ని నిర్వహించారు. కస్తూరి నరసింహారావు, సి.ఎస్.ఆర్.ఆంజనేయులు, రామకృష్ణ శాస్త్రి, బెల్లంకొండ సుబ్బారావు, కుమారి, దాసరి కోటిరత్నం, తవమణిదేవి, బాలాత్రిపుర సుందరి ముఖ్యపాత్రలు పోషించిన ఈ చిత్రం జూలై 14, 1945న విడుదలైంది. రామ నామమే మధురం మధురం, నీలి మబ్బులు అనే పాటలు హిట్టయ్యాయి.
