Filmen handler om hvordan Frederikssundsbanen blev ombygget til S-bane mellem Vanløse Station og Ballerup Station. S-banen var kommet til Vanløse i 1941, men på grund af Besættelsen kunne man først fortsætte til Ballerup i 1949.
