Köyhä laulaja on Ville Salmisen ohjaama elokuva vuodelta 1950. Nimimerkin Lauri Yrjänä takana oli käsikirjoittaja Toivo Kauppinen. Tämä oli häneltä ainoa tällä nimimerkillä tehty käsikirjoitus. Theelin aiemman menestyksen Serenaadiluutnantti siivellä syntynyt Köyhä laulaja ei ollut suuri yleisömenestys. Elokuvan musiikista vastannut Toivo Kärki kuului pääroolissa näyttelevän ja laulavan Henry Theelin taustavoimiin. Henry Theel levytti elokuvan nimisävelmän kahdesti vuosina 1950 ja 1965, ja siitä tuli yksi hänen tunnuskappaleistaan. Tangon sanoitti Kullervo.
