Ismat

The 3D catalogue: film cases on wooden shelves, with the cat sitting at the counter next to its greeting.

The catalogue in 3D

The film shelves have a room of their own that you can walk around in. The cat behind the counter is the AI Catbot, and they pick real films from the same catalogue when you tell them what you feel like watching. Nothing is for sale, here or in there. Go in from here and this film is already out on the counter, with more like it waiting on the shelf next to it.

How it feels

A 1944 Hindi film directed by Sibtain Fazli about two women who share equal time on screen, played by Nargis and Mehtab. It was an early role for Nargis, who was paid the same as the established Mehtab. The film did well at the box office but did little to advance Nargis's career.

What happens

Ismat is a 1944 Indian Hindi-language film directed by Sibtain Fazli, and produced under the banner of Fazli Brothers Films. It starred Nargis and Mehtab. Ismat was one of the earliest films of Nargis' career. Despite her lack of experience, she was paid the same amount as Mehtab, then an established film star, as both the actresses had an equal screen time. Ismat was a box office success, although according to Nargis' biographer T. J. S. George, it failed to leave any positive impact on the actress' career. (from Wikipedia, CC BY-SA)
