How it feels

A maid working for a wealthy man defends herself when he tries to assault her. He falls unconscious and she thinks he is dead. She runs away and joins a traveling troupe as a singer. She becomes successful and falls in love with a young man who has just returned from studying abroad. She then discovers he is the son of the wealthy man she thought she killed. The wealthy man actually survived but lost his sight, and the mother opposes the marriage.

What happens

الشرف غالي هو فيلمٌ مصريٌ أُنتج عام 1951.محمود قاسم، موسوعة الأفلام الروائية في مصر والعالم العربي، الجزء الثاني، الهيئة المصرية العامة للكتاب، 2006، ص 30-31. فتاة تعمل خادمةً في بيت أحد الأثرياء. يحاول الثري أن يعتدي عليها فتقاومه، فيسقط مغشياً عليه، وتظن أنه مات. تهرب الخادمة من المنزل، وأثناء هروبها، تلتقي بفرقة جوالة، ثم تنضم إليها كمطربة. تنجح الفتاة في عملها كمطربة، ويصبح لها معجبين. تتعرف على شاب عائد من الدراسة بالخارج، ويتحابان، ثم يتفقان على الزواج. تكتشف أن هذا الشاب هو ابن الثري الذي أسقطته من قبله، وظنّت أنه مات، والحقيقية أنه فقد بصره. لكن والدة الشاب تقف في طريق هذا الزواج لاعتقادها أنه الفتاة كانت السبب في فقد الثري لبصره.
