The catalogue in 3D

The film shelves have a room of their own that you can walk around in. The cat behind the counter is the AI Catbot, and they pick real films from the same catalogue when you tell them what you feel like watching. Nothing is for sale, here or in there. Go in from here and this film is already out on the counter, with more like it waiting on the shelf next to it.

How it feels

Finnish women in Stockholm encounter a gay party scene that shocks them. The film plays on prejudices about Sweden's more liberal attitudes toward homosexuality in the 1950s.

What happens

Suomalaistyttöjä Tukholmassa on suomalainen elokuva vuodelta 1952. Elokuvan on ohjannut Roland af Hällström ja tuottanut Mauno Mäkelä. Sen ensi-ilta oli 4. huhtikuuta 1952 Helsingissä Rexissä ja Tuulensuussa. Elokuva perustuu Kaarlo Nuorvalan ideaan. Suomalaiset osuvat järkytyksekseen ”ruotsalaismallisiin” homobileisiin. Ruotsin lehdistö esitti elokuvasta vastalauseensa. Elokuva sisältää tekoajankohtaansa nähden verraten rohkeita aiheita ja kohtauksia. Käsikirjoituksessa leikitellään ennakkoluuloilla, koska homoseksuaalisuus oli laillistettu Ruotsissa vuonna 1944, ja vaurasta länsinaapuria pidettiin muutenkin ”syntisenä”.
