How it feels

In West Sumatra before Indonesian independence, a young woman rejects forced marriage and falls in love with a man who later joins the guerilla resistance. She becomes a radio singer for the Dutch, leading him to suspect betrayal, but she is actually a spy for the revolution. The film follows their troubled relationship through the turmoil of war and betrayal.

Sekuntum Bunga di Tepi Danau adalah film Indonesia tahun 1952 dengan dibintangi oleh Risa Umami dan Amran S. Mouna. Cerita dimuali dari masa sebelum RI lahir, di kala adat masih kuat mengungkung di Sumatera Barat. Revolusi melunturkan aturan kukuh itu. Ibu Yulizar meninggal dunia, merana karena kawin paksa, maka Yulisar (Risa Umami) menolak cara kuno itu. Apalagi hatinya telah tercantol kepada Burhan (Amran S Mouna). Hubungan mereka tak lancar oleh revolusi fisik, clash pertama (1947) dan agresi kedua (1948). Di samping itu Yulizar menyanyi lewat radio (pendudukan) Belanda, sementara Burhan dan kawan-kawan bergerilya di hutan dan gunung. Burhan mengira Yulizar telah berkhianat.
