Om arbejdet på den danske dybhavsekspeditions skib "Galathea", som i årene 1950-1952 sejlede jorden rundt for blandt andet at udforske de store havdybder. Der tages vandprøver, som analyseres, og bundprøver, hvor bakterielivet studeres.
