Das Drehbuch stammt von Hans Rameau nach einem Entwurf von Erik Ode, Rolf Ulrich und Jo Herbst. In der Bundesrepublik Deutschland kam der Film zum ersten Mal am 30. Dezember 1958 in die Kinos.
