Kohtalo tekee siirron on Armand Lohikosken ohjaama elokuva vuodelta 1959. Lohikosken tekemä käsikirjoitus perustuu Hilve ja Veli Mustosen alkuperäiskäsikirjoitukseen Kohtalo tekee siirron vuodelta 1943. Veljenpoikakolmikko tavoittelee setänsä asessori Petäjämaan (Uuno Montonen) väärin keinoin hankkimaa omaisuutta. Rikoselokuvassa on käytetty sosiaalisia ja psykologisia näkökulmia. Shakki on tarinassa keskeinen elementti, joka ilmenee elokuvan nimestäkin.
