The Steve Allen Show

The 3D catalogue: film cases on wooden shelves, with the cat sitting at the counter next to its greeting.

The catalogue in 3D

The film shelves have a room of their own that you can walk around in. The cat behind the counter is the AI Catbot, and they pick real films from the same catalogue when you tell them what you feel like watching. Nothing is for sale, here or in there. Go in from here and this series is already out on the counter, with more like it waiting on the shelf next to it.

What happens

The Steve Allen Show is an American variety and talk show hosted by Steve Allen and broadcast by CBS from December 25, 1950, to September 11, 1952. It was Allen's first network television series and helped develop the informal combination of comedy, interviews, music and improvisation that he later used as the first host of Tonight. The program began as a weekday early-evening series in December 1950. In March 1951, it was reformatted as a daytime program, initially running for one hour each weekday. The daytime version continued until February 22, 1952. CBS revived the program in prime time during the summer of 1952 for six broadcasts on alternate Thursday evenings. (from Wikipedia, CC BY-SA)
