Tommi Rinteen tuottama elokuva on viimeinen osa kolmiosaisesta sarjasta, jonka edeltäviä osia ovat Villi Pohjola (1955) ja Villin Pohjolan kulta (1963). Suunnitteilla oli vielä neljäskin osa, työnimeltään Korven kostajat, mutta sitä ei koskaan tehty. Villin Pohjolan salattua laaksoa kuvattiin Kuusamossa kesä–heinäkuussa ja studiossa syyskuussa 1963.
