È un adattamento di una serie radiofonica omonima basata su un romanzo di Han Woon-sa, andata in onda su HLKA (poi divenuta KBS Radio 1) nel 1962. Il soggetto è basato su una storia vera riguardante un comandante di battaglione nordcoreano che, durante la Guerra di Corea, disertò in Corea del Sud per ritrovare la sua amata, giunta a sud poco dopo l'inizio del conflitto.
