What happens
Uuden vuoden yö (joissakin lähteissä Uudenvuoden yö) on Yleisradion vuonna 1966 tuottama televisiosovitus Eeva-Liisa Mannerin näytelmästä, joka oli saanut kantaesityksensä vuotta aiemmin Tampereen Työväen Teatterissa. Samoin tamperelaisvoimin toteutettu televisioversio ensiesitettiin Yle TV2 -verkossa uudenvuodenaattona 1966. Sen ovat ohjanneet Eugen Terttula ja Jarmo Nieminen. Kirjailija Mannerin omien sanojen mukaan Uuden vuoden yö on ”pessimistinen ja epäystävällinen näytelmä ihmisistä, jotka elämä on pettänyt, tai jotka ovat itse pettäneet itsensä ja päätyvät lopulta hämmennykseen ja epätoivoon”. Näytelmän loppuratkaisua muutettiin myöhemmin, mutta televisioversiossa se on sama kuin kantaesityksessä. (from Wikipedia, CC BY-SA)
