Under the Flag of the Rising Sun (Japanese: 軍旗はためく下に, Hepburn: Gunki Hatameku Moto ni) is a 1972 Japanese film directed by Kinji Fukasaku. It is based on two of the stories in Yūki Shōji's Naoki Prize-winning short story collection of the same name. The film was selected as the Japanese entry for the Best Foreign Language Film at the 45th Academy Awards, but was not accepted as a nominee. (from Wikipedia, CC BY-SA)
