Se trata de una película dramática "estructuralista"con pretensiones de drama o thriller psicológico. Sus títulos de rodaje, o en etapas iniciales, fueron "El secreto del peñatu" y "Rocanegra". Fue rodada entre Villaviciosa y Llanes (Asturias) y protagonizada entre otro por Donald Pleasance, Muriel Catala y Carmen Sevilla, que enseñaba el pecho por primera vez en el cine.
