In 1944, a young French soldier named Bernard Duroc is thrilled when his regiment prepares to liberate his hometown, where his fiancee Nicole lives. When American troops end up doing the job instead, he sneaks away to spend the night with her. Meanwhile, a nighttime commando unit needs a local guide, and Duroc is the perfect choice but nobody can find him.

En 1944, le jeune soldat Bernard Duroc est heureux : son régiment va libérer sa ville d'origine, où réside sa fiancée Nicole. Mais finalement ce sont les Américains qui vont libérer Senlis. Duroc décide alors de déserter une nuit pour la passer avec Nicole. Tout se complique quand un commando nocturne réclame de l'aide pour les renseigner sur la ville.
