Death Weekend is a 1976 horror film written and directed by William Fruet, and starring Brenda Vaccaro, Don Stroud, and Chuck Shamata. Set in rural Ontario, the film follows a model and her boyfriend who are terrorized by three violent criminals at a remote lakeside home following a road rage incident. Loosely inspired by a real home invasion case in Canada, Death Weekend was filmed on location in the fall of 1975 in Maple, Ontario. It was an international co-production between Canada, Italy, and Panama, with half of its $500,000 budget origination from the Canadian Film Development Corporation. It was produced by Ivan Reitman, marking his second film production credit after David Cronenberg's Shivers (1975). Death Weekend premiered in Ontario on September 17, 1976, before opening in Quebec on October 8, 1976.
