Shirins Hochzeit ist einer der ersten aus türkischer Sicht erzählten deutschen Spielfilme. Das 1975 für das Fernsehen produzierte kontroverse Drama stammt von der Filmemacherin Helma Sanders-Brahms (die damals noch unter dem Namen Helma Sanders in Erscheinung trat).
