How it feels

British soldiers stationed in India and Southeast Asia recorded ten-minute personal messages directed at their families back home. The films were screened for their loved ones in cinemas in the soldiers' hometowns in the United Kingdom.

Produced by the Directorate for Army Welfare (DAK) in India from 1944 to 1946, Calling Blighty was a series of ten-minute films which featured members of the British Armed Forces stationed in India and Southeast Asia speaking a personal message direct to camera.
