What happens

This Is England is a British drama franchise consisting of a film and three subsequent television miniseries. The four instalments in the franchise focus on the coming-of-age of a group of people and the evolution of different British youth subcultures, spanning the years between 1983 and 1990 in a town in the East Midlands of England. The original film was written and directed by Shane Meadows. The writer for the follow-up series This Is England '86, This Is England '88, and This Is England '90 was Jack Thorne, in collaboration with Meadows.
