"神의 아들"은 1986년에 개봉한 대한민국의 영화이며 지영호 감독은 본명(지청언)으로 영화 연출 데뷔했던 《천사 늪에 잠들다》가 흥행 실패한 뒤 해당 영화부터 지영호로 개명했다. 한편, 《록키》 못지 않게 권투 장면을 잘 찍었다는 평을 받았으나 엉성하게 전개되는 이야기 속에서 주인공 최강타(최민수 분)의 눈빛만 이글거리다 보니 주변 인물들과의 조화가 많이 아쉬웠는데 악역에 해당하는 김 회장(김무생 분) 엄동호(박일 분) 캐릭터가 평면적이라 극중 갈등이 싱거웠으며 보배(조민수 분) 자영(김진경 분) 최강타의 삼각관계도 억지스러웠다는 혹평이 있었다.
