Das Drehbuch stammt von Serge Meynard, Patrick Braoudé und Jean-Paul Lilienfeld. Der französische Titel ist doppeldeutig: Œil au beurre noir bedeutet Blaues Auge, der Begriff beur ist in Frankreich ein Ausdruck für Araber, insbesondere maghrebinischer Herkunft (siehe auch Maghreb).
