Sia il film sia la miniserie, tratti da un romanzo di Justus Pfaue, ebbero successo anche all'estero e contribuirono alla consacrazione dell'attrice protagonista Silvia Seidel, vincitrice di vari riconoscimenti tra cui il Bambi.
