What happens

I, Madman is a 1989 American supernatural slasher film directed by Tibor Takács and starring Jenny Wright and Clayton Rohner. Its plot follows a Los Angeles bookstore worker who becomes engrossed in a horror novel titled I, Madman, and finds a series of murders resembling those in the book occurring around her. The film's working title was Hardcover, and it was released in some international markets under this name. Released regionally by Trans World Entertainment in the spring of 1989, the film later screened at the Avoriaz International Fantastic Film Festival in January 1990, where it won the Grand Prize award for best feature. While some film critics derided its pacing and graphic violence, others praised the film for its visual style and mixture of elements from classic monster movies and film noir.
