A schoolboy named Petya likes to tinker and imagine. He builds a space elevator that people laugh at, then makes an unusual kitchen that impresses everyone. His teacher sends him to a technical creativity exhibition.

Петька у космосі — радянський художній фільм 1972 року, знятий на Одеській кіностудії. Школяр Петя, любитель помайструвати і пофантазувати, одного разу спорудив космічний ліфт. Над ним, звичайно, всі посміялися, але Петя не образився, а взявся за наступний винахід — і незабаром сконструював незвичайну кухню.
