Il documentario mostra, senza alcun commento, una serie di interventi di militanti comunisti durante i dibattiti all'interno di alcune sezioni del Partito Comunista Italiano svoltisi nei giorni successivi alla proposta di Achille Occhetto di trasformare il Partito Comunista Italiano in un nuovo soggetto politico, la cosiddetta "svolta della Bolognina", testimoniando «un momento unico di autocoscienza collettiva nella storia della sinistra italiana.» È stato mandato in onda la prima volta da Rai Tre il 6 marzo 1990, alla vigilia del Congresso di Bologna.
