Das Licht der Liebe ist ein Kinderfilm der DEFA über das Wunderbare des Sehens und des Sichtbaren; das Thema ist inspiriert von Henrik Hertz’ lyrischem Drama König René’s Tochter. Der Film entstand im Herbst 1989, die Premiere fand am 28. Februar 1991 im Berliner Kino International statt. Im deutschen Fernsehen wurde der Film erstmals am 22. Dezember 1991 ausgestrahlt.
