افعی فیلمی به کارگردانی و نویسندگی محمدرضا اعلامی و تهیه‌کنندگی مرتضی شایسته محصول سال ۱۳۷۱ در گونه حادثه‌ای و ماجراجویی است. افعی مطابق آمار مستند فهرست پرفروش ترین فیلم های سینمای ایران در ویکی پدیای فارسی پرفروشترین فیلم سال نمایش خود شده و همچنین با ۱۳ سال اکران در سینماهای ایران بین سال‌های ۱۳۷۲ تا ۱۳۸۵، توانست بیش از ۶ میلیون و ۴۰۵ هزار مخاطب داشته باشد و از پربیننده‌ترین فیلم‌های سینمای ایران در طی سال‌های اکران خود در سالن‌های سینماست. بخش عمدهٔ فیلم در منطقهٔ جنگلی عباس‌آباد در استان مازندران فیلم‌برداری شده است. برخی صحنه‌ها نیز در نواحی اطراف بهشهر و حاشیهٔ جنگل‌های شمالی گرفته شده‌اند. بخشهای آغازین فیلم در جنگلهای ۲۰۰۰،۳۰۰۰ تنکابن فیلمبرداری شد. این منطقه به دلیل: جنگل‌های انبوه و مه‌آلود، مسیرهای پرپیچ‌وخم و جاده‌های کوهستانی، و نزدیکی به ساحل خزر، محیطی بسیار مناسب برای فضاسازی‌های رمزآلود و تعقیب‌وگریزهای فیلم بود.
