The Call of the Wild: Dog of the Yukon is a 1997 Canadian film. The screenplay by Graham Ludlow is based on Jack London's classic 1903 novel The Call of the Wild, and is narrated by Richard Dreyfuss and stars Rutger Hauer. It was filmed in Quebec, Canada and premiered in the United States as a television movie on June 22, 1997. The main character Buck was portrayed by three Leonberger dog "actors" (one female, and two males). In the novel, Buck is identified as a half-Saint Bernard and half-Scottish shepherd dog.
