Mendel er en norsk drama/familiefilm fra 1997 skrevet og regissert av Alexander Røsler. Filmen handler om den ni år gamle jødiske Mendel som kommer som flyktning sammen med foreldrene til Norge på 1950-tallet. Filmen hadde verdenspremiere under Filmfestivalen i Berlin i februar 1997 og norsk premiere 21. mars samme år. Filmen vant flere priser under Festróia - Tróia International Film Festival i Setúbal i Portugal, blant annet vant hovedrolleinnhaver Thomas Jüngling Sørensen prisen for beste unge talent, filmen vant kritikerprisen mens Røsler vant sølvdelfinen for beste manuskript. Filmen vant også juryens spesialpris under filmfestivalen i Shanghai. Foran Amandaprisen 1997 ble Trond Høvik nominert i klassen beste mannlige skuespiller for sin samlede innsats i Budbringeren og Mendel. (from Wikipedia, CC BY-SA)
