In and out of fashion és una pel·lícula documental dirigida per William Klein el 1994 i estrenat a França el 1998. La pel·lícula es va realitzar paral·lelament a una exposició al Centre Internacional de Fotografia de Nova York i a la publicació d'un llibre amb el mateix títol. Es va subtitular en català. El documental combina diversos treballs de William Klein relacionats amb la fotografia de reportatge i de moda, així com dibuixos de vestuari realitzats per la seva esposa Jeanne. També incorpora espots publicitaris i fragments de films de ficció com Qui êtes-vous, Polly Maggoo ? i Mister Freedom. Entre els materials inclosos hi ha extractes del reportatge Le Business et la Mode, realitzat per al programa Cinq colonnes à la une el 1962, així com una seqüència de Mode in France dedicada a Jean-Paul Gaultier entre bastidors durant una desfilada de moda. El film també inclou el primer rodatge de Klein als bastidors de l'alta costura, centrat en els inicis d'Yves Saint Laurent. La pel·lícula aborda la relació de William Klein amb el món de la moda i, de manera més general, el seu recorregut artístic. El documental adopta així la forma d'un autoretrat del fotògraf, combinant diferents etapes i formats de la seva obra audiovisual i fotogràfica. La fitxa tècnica inclou la fotografia de Jean Boffety, Gérard de Battista, Pierre Lhomme i Philippe Rousselot, així com música de Jean-Sébastien Bach, Michel Legrand, Serge Gainsbourg i Michel Colombier.
