Liian paksu perhoseksi on Ylen tuottama tv-elokuva jonka ohjasi Heidi Köngäs Sisko Istanmäen samannimisen romaanin pohjalta. Romaanin elokuvan käsikirjoitukseksi sovitti Tove Idström. Elokuva rikkoi katsojaennätyksiä vuonna 1998 ensi-illassaan jossa sillä oli melkein 1,5 miljoonaa katsojaa. Elokuva palkittiin vuonna 1998 Berliinissä, Saksassa Prix Europa palkinnolla.
