What happens

Meier 19 ist ein Dokumentarfilm von Erich Schmid über die Affäre um Kurt Meier, der 1967 als Detektivwachtmeister der Stadtpolizei Zürich die Begünstigung von prominenten Verkehrssündern publik machte und nach seiner Entlassung den Leiter der Kriminalpolizei Walter Hubatka verdächtigte, 1963 Lohngelder in der Höhe von 88'000 Franken aus der Hauptwache «Urania» gestohlen zu haben. Zudem zeichnet der Film die Zürcher Jugendunruhen nach, die 1968 im Globuskrawall mündeten. Beide Ereignisse werden als Formen des Widerstands gegen das Establishment in einer «erstarrten Gesellschaft» gewertet. Meier 19 wurde am 3. August 2001 am Locarno Film Festival uraufgeführt. Mit über 10'000 Kinoeintritten war er der erfolgreichste Dokumentarfilm des Jahres 2001 in der Schweiz. (from Wikipedia, CC BY-SA)
