How it feels
The film takes place in the weeks before the 1973 Yom Kippur War. It follows Israeli intelligence and military officials who hold onto a belief that Egypt will not attack. It also recreates parts of the subsequent inquiry into why they were wrong.

שתיקת הצופרים היא דרמה טלוויזיונית ישראלית משנת 2003 שהופקה על ידי ריקי שלח במלאת שלושים שנה למלחמת יום הכיפורים. את הסרט ביים אורי ענבר ואת התסריט כתב מוטי לרנר על פי הספר "הצופה שנרדם" מאת פרופסור אורי בר-יוסף. הסרט עוסק בהתרחשויות סביב הדרג המדיני והצבאי, בעיקר בחטיבת המחקר של אגף המודיעין, בשבועיים לפני פרוץ המלחמה. בשבועיים אלו דבק אמ"ן בקונספציה – התאוריה לפיה מצרים לא תפתח במלחמה עם ישראל והסיכויים לפרוץ המלחמה נמוכים. הסרט אף משחזר חלק מדיוניה של ועדת אגרנט, שהוקמה על מנת לחקור את נסיבות פריצת המלחמה. הסרט פותח ומומן על ידי קרן מקור לסרטי קולנוע וטלוויזיה, "טלעד" והרשות השנייה לטלוויזיה ולרדיו, ושודר בשידורי טלעד של ערוץ 2. הסרט זכה בפרס האקדמיה לטלוויזיה לסרט הטלוויזיה הטוב ביותר לשנת 2004. ב-12 באוקטובר 2004 הוקרן הסרט בספריית הקונגרס האמריקני בפני חברי הקונגרס ועובדיו ובפני הקהל הרחב.
