What happens

Palindromes is a 2004 American comedy drama film written and directed by Todd Solondz. Referencing Solondz's previous Welcome to the Dollhouse, it follows a 13-year-old girl named Aviva and her quest to become a mom. Aviva is notably played by eight different actors of different ages, races, and genders over the course of the film, which is divided into chapters. The names of the characters Aviva, Bob, and Otto are all palindromes. On September 3, 2004, the film premiered at the Venice Film Festival, where it was nominated for the Golden Lion. It received a limited theatrical release in North America on April 13, 2005. Monument Releasing and Visit Films, in conjunction with the Museum of Modern Art, screened a 4K restoration of the film on March 12, 2025. The restoration was released digitally on May 20, 2025.
