Garfield: The Movie (or simply Garfield) is a 2004 American live-action animated comedy film directed by Peter Hewitt and written by Joel Cohen and Alec Sokolow. It is based on Jim Davis' comic strip of the same name, and stars Bill Murray as the voice of the title character. Breckin Meyer, Jennifer Love Hewitt, and Stephen Tobolowsky also star. Produced by Davis Entertainment Company, Garfield: The Movie premiered in Hollywood on June 6, 2004, before being theatrically released in the United States on June 11, 2004, by 20th Century Fox. It received negative reviews from critics but grossed $208 million worldwide on a $50 million budget.
