How it feels

A young boy named Shimpei lives with his mother in a quiet countryside town. He loves fishing and painting, and his childhood friend Sayuri is deaf but they communicate easily. When his art wins a prize in Paris, his mother dies suddenly in the snow. Years later, as an adult, Shimpei is sent to Tokyo for a fake job arranged to keep him away from Sayuri's wedding.
