Out of the Blue is a 2006 New Zealand crime drama film directed by Robert Sarkies and starring Karl Urban. It is based on the 1990 Aramoana massacre, the deadliest mass shooting in New Zealand prior to the Christchurch mosque shootings, that occurred over a period of two days in the small coastal community of Aramoana in Otago, New Zealand. The film premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival on 11 September 2006 in Canada and was released in New Zealand on 12 October 2006.
