It was produced by Mark Johnson and Philip Steuer, with music by Mark and Bob Mothersbaugh of Devo. The film is loosely based on Thomas Rockwell's 1973 children's book of the same name. It stars James Rebhorn, Kimberly Williams-Paisley, and Tom Cavanagh. The film was produced by Walden Media and distributed by New Line Cinema.
