Sunshine is a 2007 science fiction psychological thriller film directed by Danny Boyle and written by Alex Garland. It features an ensemble cast, including Rose Byrne, Cliff Curtis, Chris Evans, Troy Garity, Cillian Murphy, Hiroyuki Sanada, Benedict Wong, and Michelle Yeoh. Set in 2057 as a global freeze threatens human extinction, the film follows the crew of a spacecraft on a mission to deliver a stellar bomb intended to reignite the dying Sun. The film was shot primarily at 3 Mills Studios in London, with cinematography by Alwin H. Küchler. The film's score was composed by John Murphy with contributions from the band Underworld. The production consulted scientific advisers including physicist Brian Cox. Sunshine was released in the United Kingdom on 6 April 2007 by Fox Searchlight Pictures. It received generally positive reviews from critics, and grossed $35 million against a $40 million budget.
