bill – das absolute augenmass ist ein Dokumentarfilm von Erich Schmid über den Schweizer Architekten, Bildhauer, Grafiker und Maler Max Bill. Er zeichnet dessen berufliche Biografie nach, zeigte zahlreiche Werke im zeitlichen Kontext und vermittelt Bills Kunstverständnis sowie seine politische Haltung. Der Film basiert zu wesentlichen Teilen auf Schilderungen von Angela Thomas, der zweiten Ehefrau und Witwe von Max Bill, welcher der Film gewidmet ist. Durch einmontierte historische Filmausschnitte lässt er Bill immer wieder auch selbst zu Wort kommen. Hinzu kommen Erinnerungen von zahlreichen Personen, die Bill persönlich kannten, insbesondere Gottfried Honegger. Der Titel des Films basiert auf einer Formulierung von Hans Bissegger.
