Based on the 2009 novel of the same name by Kami Garcia and Margaret Stohl, the film stars Alden Ehrenreich, Alice Englert, Jeremy Irons, Viola Davis, Emmy Rossum, Thomas Mann, and Emma Thompson. It was released in the United States on February 14, 2013, by Warner Bros. Pictures. It received mixed reviews from critics and grossed only $60.1 million worldwide against its $60 million budget.
