The 3D catalogue: film cases on wooden shelves, with the cat sitting at the counter next to its greeting.

The catalogue in 3D

The film shelves have a room of their own that you can walk around in. The cat behind the counter is the AI Catbot, and they pick real films from the same catalogue when you tell them what you feel like watching. Nothing is for sale, here or in there. Go in from here and this film is already out on the counter, with more like it waiting on the shelf next to it.

What happens

"Suur maalritöö" on aastal 2013 esilinastunud animafilm, mis põhineb 1971. aastal ilmunud samanimelisel Ellen Niidu värssraamatul, mille on illustreerinud Edgar Valter. Film valmis stuudios A Film Eesti. Filmis ärkasid ellu Edgar Valteri võrratud joonistused ja Ellen Niidu lustakad värsid, mille viisistas Vaiko Eplik. Laule esitavad Mari Pokinen, Priit Võigemast ja Rapla laulustuudio tüdrukud Thea Paluoja juhendamisel. Samal aastal ilmus Epliku plaadifirma Mortimer Snerd kaudu ka DVD- ja CD-plaadi komplekt, 2014. aastal tuli müügile animafilmil põhinev luuletusega värviraamat. Filmi esialgne idee tekkis juba 1990. aastate lõpul, kuid asi jäi soiku. Uuesti hakati filmiga tegelema 2010. aastal ning pärast pikemat seisakut sai projekt suurema hoo sisse 2012. aasta kevadel. Animeerimine kestis 2013. aasta maist oktoobrini. Animeerimise suure töömahu tõttu ei olnud võimalik seda Eestis teha ning sobivad animaatorid leiti Hiinast, kus A Film on ise animaatoreid ka koolitanud. (from Wikipedia, CC BY-SA)
